Lymm v. Weaverham

Weaverham 2nd XI 147-7, Lymm 148-4

Lymm win: points Lymm 20 Weaverham 8

Having lost an early wicket Phil Harris 23 and Darren Falland 46 put on 74 for the second wicket and then Kenny Roberts 30 helped set up what looked like being a decent Weaverham total. Lymm however bowled well at the end of the innings and restricted the visitors to 147-7.

Weaverham had Lymm in trouble at 18-2 but Lymm batsman M.Carr rode his luck on a number of occasions and ended up with 91 no to ensure a Lymm victory. Pick of the Weaverham bowlers was Brian Rogerson with 2-29 off 12 overs. Keeper Alex Stitch had a good day with the gloves.

Weaverham v. Lymm

Weaverham 1st X1 108-9, Lymm 135

Drawn game : Pts Weaverham 7 Lymm 11

Weaverham didn't get the result they were looking for at Wallerscote road on Saturday when they came up against a strong Lymm side.

Skipper Rob McMillan won the toss and asked the visitors to bat on a damp wicket. Weaverham bowled well and Rob McMillan 3-43 off 12 overs, and new boys Chris Hemmings 2-42 off 16 and James Ollier 2-27 off 10 both made solid debuts. Stalwart Allen Bell also bowled well to pick up 2-16 off 6.4 overs. In fact Lymm should not have reached 100 as a number of catches went down and this proved crucial as the game went on.

Weaverham did not bat well on the day with the only telling contributions coming from New Zealand debutant Gregg Ayres (36) and Jamie Allen who having earlier made an excellent debut as wicket keeper then scored a solid 27. The Weaverham reply then petered out though the home side did manage to hold on for a draw and were then left to rue those dropped catches.
